yahoo and suse 9.0/9.1

Guys
If anyone has come across this problem here is the answer the other day I downloaded yahoo instant messenger rpm and thereafter I could not log onto the machine in fact I should not have been given a login screen at all, having checked all the message boards I believe that for some reason yahoo instant messenger screws up the login manager .
