what kind of linux

what type of linux do you suggest for a newbie such as myself, who has had little to no expireence with linux AND Unix OS
thanks ahead of time,
PSmwhere can i get these downloads, thanks again

the advice they gave me under post "linux migration #1 - versions" is pretty useful, esp if you're looking for something like windows, the link to the distribution references has some gr8 advice too
