What Distro

I was wondering what would be the best distro for a newbee.

Their are to thoughts on this, I could use an easy distro like redhat or mandrake etc

or I could use a hard distro like slacware, debian etc

I think going with a hard distro is the best because a person learns more this way.

Any ideas

There a lot of these posts if you search and search for "what distro". I would say that redhat and mandrake are incredibly simple to set up because they have good graphical setups. On the other hand I have learned a lot from install slack. The harder the install more things could go wrong, not necessarly if you read the instructions first. If you have a lot of time, try them all. Not to put down redhat here but I found that running gnome under rh8 was slow but if you really had your heart set on red hat you could just some other x like blackbox. For an easy install rh or mandrake, slack really isn't difficult you just can't keep hitting next. Try a couple see what you like.
