Ok, I think I know the answer.
For some reason Suse doesn't seem to like network USB connections.
I couldn't manage to connect until I began to use ethernet.
Other distros, like Libranet, don't seem to have this problem.

So is the USB the problem?

Anyhow, im going to see what I can do in SuSE now.

Yes, I think so, almost certainly.
If you could connect with ethernet you'd most likely solve the problem.
