SuSe 8.2 Speedtouch connection problem

Has anyone a successful procedure consistent with Yast2 for installing a connection to pipex using the SPeedTouch USB ADSL modem?

I've tried the procedure recommended by SuSe in configSpeedTouch.html without succes.

Speedtouchconf from sourceforge does work, but seems to cause clashes with other things eg installing the firewall via Yast. Yast seems such a neat tool I'd like to use its cpapbilities as closely as possible.

All works well with windows 98, and I have had the harware working with Mandrake 9.0 for a year, though with Mandrake 9.2 I ran into a brick wall hence the SuSe trial.

Really ? Mdk 9.2 configured it fine for me. I didn't touch anything, except copying the mgmt.o thingy from my 9.1 install to the new one.

Suse is more difficult on these things if I recall correctly.

If you can afford it, I'd go for a dsl router, with both wireless and wired connection. That's what I'll do very soon.
