Slight problem getting linux

I have an older packard bell ive been using with DSL linux. Problem is, my cd burner just died and I dont really feel like spending money to buy one, no real use for it. ive also lost my DSL linux cd, and all I have is RH 7.1...

Heres the unique situation. Packard bell is hooked to my windows xp computer via a Netgear EA101 10Mbps usb network interface, which DSL linux detected and worked flawlessly with. 64Mb ram, 166Mhz cpu, 1GB hard drive, 16x cdrom, and one 1.44MB floppy drive.

I cant use freesco, because I assume it doesnt do USB. Cant really use RH 7.1, it uses far too much space. I have one option left.

Is it possible to find some distro which has a downloadable floppy image, which can support USB ethernet, partition the hard drive, and download/install from FTP or the internet?

Hi,

I found this old article which explains how to install Red Hat Linux 7.1 from a floppy disk (via the network) - but I'm not sure if the link to the image is still valid. However, a better option might be a Debian net install from floppy, which is much more current - see here for details.

Cheers,

-jk

Got to try Slackware www.slackware.com

Has floppy/FTP install options, and can configure it the way you want: Plus, nowhere near as much 'bloat' as alot of distros
