Redhat Linux Sound Config

I'm experiancing sound problems with Redhat.
The sound works for things like opening a program, but playing Mp3s or the sound in Gaim stop it. What happens is the sound plays for a second, and either freezes the program, or all of linux. My only thought is the wrong driver is on for my Via on board sound card. I had sound problems with mandrake, and solved them by swtiching to a different driver, but I don't know how to switch drivers.
Any help or advice is appretiated.

haaaa... i think the only best solution for your problem is what u have to do is you just config redhat-config-sound and there u will know either your sound card is problem or your configuration in your system.

tryyy an error
