Pclinuxos on an acer laptop

I recently put xandros 4 on my laptop ( a disaster) and now I am thinking of trying something else. I was looking at pclinuxos and tried the live cd. Seems pretty nice.

Has anyone had this on an acer laptop? Any problems? I have an acer aspire 3005 wmli using the mobile amd 3300.

Xandros 3 worked perfectly on it except the volume controls didn't work either on the keyboard or in the slider. You could only control it by using the headphone slider. Apparently that was taken care of in alsa 1.0.11. I know that pclinuxos doesn't load that automatically, is it available through synaptic?

If anyone has any other suggestions as far as distros go, please let me know.

It should be available through synaptic, if you want a large repository distro, check out ubuntu.
