nvidia driver and mepis

have downloaded and installed this mepis version-beta
2005.b04
(Pro)

okay. i have also downloaded the lastest version of the linux nvidia driver, and then tryed to install it. this is what happen-

1. open terminal
2. typed su -
3. provided the password for super user
4. typed telinit 3
nothing happen, don,t understand this, i should get to runlevel 3- what is going on???????????????

to get into the non -gui mode- i had to log in on the console mode from the login box.

okay, i got into the no-gui mode-logged in as root, changed my directory to where i had the nvidia driver, but then could not get it installed because no compiled kernal was found. what a bummer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone have problems getting the nvidia driver installed on this beta version of mepis

Keep trying it will work!

cool- i did finally get it to work on 2005 version of mepis . did a re-install, did as per instructed by your excellent step by step procedure off mepislovers. forgot to go into the system center, which is a bit differnent that the one in your link,. after i click on nvidia driver and rebooted, bingo- nvidia splash screen during boot. i then loaded the libdvdcss2 from apt-get and now watch dvds on xine.

happy linux user now, xandros 2.0 download version i believe has all this installed if i remember right., but i like mepis too.
