Question New Install cds?

I am no newbie to linux, been using it for about 3 years now but this is a subject I have never ventured into. I am running Redhat 9, which as everyone knows is now unsupported. So off a fresh install there are roughly 1700 updates needed to bring it up to speed. Is there a way I can install and get these updates and then make new install cd's with the updates on them? I would also like to add in some other programs and tools in the install cds as well.

Thanks in Advance for any replys

If it were me, I'd back up my data, verify the backups, and move the machine over to Fedora Core. You don't explain you're reasons for hanging on to RH9, I'd argue that the security fixes alone are worth the effort to move to a distro that is being actively developed.

Well I have tried fedora core 1 and 2 and currently niether one support my nic card. So I am just sticking with RH9 till they develope drivers and such for my NIC.

My Network Card is :
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Xircom Cardbus Ethernet 10/100 (rev 03)

If you can show me a fedora core install with this built in then I will check it out and move over, cus I do like fedora, it just doesn't support my nic, and since I am a network guy I kinda need it to do what I do.

Ok after doing some diggin around I found out I have the XIRCOM RBEM56G-100 multifunction network card. i.e. it is a NIC and a 56k modem in one. Does Fedora Core 2 support this cus I know FC1 doesn't.

seems xircom doesn't like linux, and making a good driver for linux is almost impossible since they don't like releasing info about their hardware. but this is what i found from google:

Quote:
[pcmcia-cs driver: tulip_cb] [x86,ppc]
[2.4+ kernel driver: xircom_cb]
[ ethernet only ]
Silicom FEM56 Fast Ethernet
[ Not recommended: support is experimental and unreliable ]
IBM EtherJet CardBus with 56K Modem
Xircom RBEM56G-100BTX, CBEM56G-100BTX, R2BEM56G-100
i would wait till fedora 3 comes out (supposedly nov. 1) and try it. see if the xircom card works automatically with core 3 and work from there. you can always try out core 2 if you're impatient. apparently it is possible to get your card working, it just may take a little work.

right on man, thanks for the info.

I have checked out google myself but never came across any useful info such as that.

I may give FC3 a go...but ya know resolving issues such as this one are ahrd to do without any access to the internet for info. but eh, it makes it more fun right.
