mandrake 8.2

Hi, ok, I installed mandrake 8.2 some days ago, and it gets frozen every 10 minutes. I read another post like this but found no answer. Someone said that there could be something that I did wrong when installing but I still don't know what can it be.
any ideas?

It gets frozen and stops, or gets frozen and then starts going again like 30 seconds later?

Do you have to reboot after the freeze?

Is there hard drive activity during this freeze?

Everything stops, even the hard drive, and I have to reboot it.
I've noticed that it happens so often when I'm using some net browser or connecting to my computer from another one using ssh.

This sounds more like a harware issue than a Mandrake 8.2 install to me. I've run Mandrake 8.2 on several different machines of various configurations, and never had such a problem. Can you give us your harware specifics- like the amount of ram, cpu type, drive types, and other peripherals installed as addons to the machine.

Another thought- what is the the size of your swap file you specified in the Mandrake install? Or, did you let Mandrake specifiy the swap file size?

Just edit your boot loader config file to boot Windows as default.

/etc/lilo.conf Put the winbloze entry above the Linux one. You will need to be root to do that, and when you are done, run /sbin/lilo

Cool
