Login as root Mandrake 9.1?

I feel really dumb, but the older distro had the root user listed at login, but in 9.1 it is not, only the user I created. I need to login as root so I can run netconf and linuxconf.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi coolrunr

One way is :

K
Configuration
KDE Control centre
System
Login Manager
Aministrator mode button - type root password
Users tab
Uncheck the cross next to root user
click apply
log out
log in - you'll see an option for root user

It happens alot round here - I think we're over 43,000 people here now - that freaked me out - when I joined I only expected maybe 1500 people - its a good site - you usually get a reply within 10-20 minutes.

I just ran a google search for this exact same issue! It's a bad idea not to mention this in the docs, I think.

I agree. It wasn't the easiest thing to figure out although it was starting me in the face.
