Knoppix can't find my IP address

Knoppix successfully detected my network, but isn't getting the IP address. Where can I either tell it either to DHCP broadcast or enter the IP manually? I didn't find a place in the wireless network configuration thing to do either.

Here is what I do to make things work, after booting up with Knoppix 3.9.

I launch the application called Wavelan Configuration. If your card is not detected, at this point, this won't work, but if it is, you should be good to go.

My wireless card is detected as device ath0. It will prompt you with a series of questions for configuration; including ESSID, ( this is set in your wireless access point ) NWID ( cell identifier ) leave it blank unless you have more than one WAP, and need to select a specific one, Mode, I set this to 'auto', Channel number, set is your WAP, this needs to match, encryption key, if you set one up in your WAP, additional parameters, I use defaults and leave that blank, iwspy; leave it blank, iwpriv, I leave this blank. Once you press the last OK, the window disappears.

Now, to get an IP address, open a window, and type 'su' and enter. Run the command 'pump -i ath0'
This will tell ath0 to try and get an IP address, and assuming your DHCP server works, you should get one. You can confirm that by running the command 'ifconfig' and if all is well an IP address will show for ath0 ( or what ever your wireless card is called.

Hope this helps.
