I have a distro, but no help with it....

I have a distro that is called Generations Linux. However, the website has no support. There isn't even an email for the creator. How do I get help? I am not even sure what it is based on. It is a live cd.

You can't.
However: softcraft.org have a wiki ... www.softcraft.org/wiki which is
Quote:
Sorry! The wiki is experiencing some technical difficulties, and cannot contact the database server.
Access denied for user 'wikiuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
... I'm afraid.

Generations is very new - distrowatch has it on it's todo list.
It appears to be its own distro - possibly created from scratch. The web site says something about
Quote:
The software depot is stored in a database, allowing once installed, one or multiple computers to keep an inventory of software installed or depend on a server class computer in the network (internet) to provide software depot details from the overall system to each program and file.
... which suggests the developer has english as a second language. It also suggests that it does not use apt or yum repositories but it's own system ... perhaps following the linspire model.

It is a live distro - but otherwise I would stear clear of it. At least until the designers have got their act together.

Nylex: what a great link! however did you find it?

The documentation seems to emphasise the utility of the bootable CD aspect more than anything. Describes as being for fun, and "many uses".

It is also rpm based.

The only thing is, I need a live distro that allows me to save the config to the drive, be it a flash drive or hard drive.
