I'm trying to get Bochs 2.26 going (the Windows version), and right now, I'm trying to test it with a live-CD, and later will install Debian (14 CD's) into it. However, I have yet to find the control to make it look at a hardware CD-ROM device (I'm primary trying to get it to look at my ATA 0 Slave drive, /dev/hdb under Linux). However, everything I've tried (referring it to a Windows-drive--D:\, reffering to a Linux device--/dev/hdb, and anything else I could think of) have all failed. Each time, I would specify a boot sequence, but to no avail. How can I get Bochs to check the CD-ROM drives as it's coming up, like my hardware computer does?
Also, once I do get it to go, how do I show Bochs my Travan tape drive? If I can get Linux to see the tape drive from within Bochs, I intend to use it from there (/dev/ht0).

If you're not intent on using Bochs, the (free) VMWare player will run the CD much faster (since it uses virtualization instead of emulation). These instructions will get you going.
You can also configure your own virtual machines here.
I already have Bochs installed, and would like to use it for now, though top-end speed isn't my primary concern. I wish to try Bochs awhile longer. As I said earlier, I'm only testing it with the CD, and will make a more "permanent" install afterwards. I may try VM-Ware, or even others later on.
