486 Linux

I have 5 or 6 old i486 computers sitting around. I was wondering what would be a good distribution to put on them. I don't want it to be to difficult to install, but I have been running linux for quite a while and installed debian and ubuntu on a number of computers. I want it to have an x-windows installed with it and open office if possible. Though I don't no if this will run on this old of a computer? The computers will not have internet access. They all have around a 1-GB hard drive and 32-MB memory. Does anyone have any ideas?

Vectorlinux - U could I guess use a current one but would then need to use a custom kernel because Vector 5 Standard is 586 based or so ... or of course an older version .

Slackware is still 486 based .

You wouldn't be able to run openoffice on them. Maybe abiword but I think it'd be slow.
Damn small linux is a distro you could try. Install it to hard disk (it's a live cd which u can install to hd, live it'll run painfully slow).
Slackware or deli linux could be nice.

If you have one fast computer and put networks cards in the 486's and connect them all to the fast computer you could use the 486's as terminals. This should run quite fast and make it possible to run openoffice on the 486's (well it'll actually run on the fast computer ofcourse). With fast I don't necessarily mean a brandnew computer... a 1 ghz is already fast in my opinion.
There are linux floppy disk distro's which are built exactly for making a terminal.
