X errors while configureing and installing packages.

hello my fellow linux users. I am in a bit of a quandry.Anytime I run a configure script in the terminal, I get this message:

checking for crt_externs.h... no
checking for _NSGetEnviron... no
checking for vsnprintf... yes
checking for snprintf... yes
checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check installation and add the correct paths

In this particular instance I was trying to install QuadKonsole. But it does this with anything I try (themes, programs, etc).

I am using Kubuntu 6.06 and have an AMD64 processor and ATi Radeon X1600 pro

any help would be wonderful, as this is greatly hindering me. thanks.

You'll have to figure out where Ubuntu puts the X header files. Most of the time I think you'll find them in /usr/X11R6/include/X11 or /usr/X11R7/include/X11. Then pass the --x-includes=<DIR_PATH> to configure.

You probably did not install the xorg devel package (not sure what its called on Ubuntu, maybe x11-xorg-dev).
