Unable to remove generic kernel entry from LILO boot list

Switched from the huge kernel to a generic one. Slackware seemed to freeze when all was said and done, decide to remove the kernel using removepkg and it works. Go into /etc/lilo.conf and remove the entry there. It still shows Slackware as an entry.

i know nothing about slackware, but i have used lilo for a while, so i know this 100%:
after editing lilo.conf you have to mount all partitions that contain kernels lilo is pointing to, and then run "sudo liloinstall" or "sudo lilo-install" or "sudo install-lilo" or sth like that. man lilo.
