Sound problems on Mandriva 2006

I am unable to get any sound on linux after installing Mandriva 2006 x86-64 from the DVD. I have a Athlon 64 chip with 512K memory. I have a Sound blaster Audigy 4 in addition to the built in sound system on the motherboard. I run a dual boot system with Windows XP and the sound works great on it. I have tried everything I know to see if it is muted but it doesn't appear to be muted. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the onboard soundcard disabled? If not try disabling that and then see if Linux plays along nicely with the audigy.
