I have installed Mandriva 2006 on a Biostar mobo with nVidia's MCP51 chipset. I can't get the sound (AC97 5.1 system on-board) or the on-board ethernet going.
could you double check that you have enabled on board sound ac97 in your bios pls?
2) then run alsaconf to re search for your sound card if it finds it then run alsamixer
press M to mute or unmute various settings then run
alsactl store to save your settings in /etc/asound.state
note you open a terminal and type su then your root password b4 running any of the above commands pls
3) also while there run command
ifconfig and post what you have.....if you have KDE konsole you can click on edit and copy then paste the stuff into this reply box
4) I assume you have been in Mandriva control center and tried to
setup a new network...lan or not?
