The only ones I run on the Intel DDX are the antiques that the Modesetting DIX doesn't support.
What's your usage scenario? Do you play games? Watch a lot of video?
Does your desktop use a compositor?
How does your CPU factor into this? It might be faster than mine and better capable to do non-accelarated rendering.
I'll say it again: the xf86-video-intel driver might be old and superseded, but not obsolete.
ondoho, if you wish to debate the merits of the two Intel IGP display driver options, start an appropriate thread. This thread boils down to needing to try both if you wish to know which suits best your environment. The proof appeared in post #11.

No, you don't get to end this debate in this way.
You always push the DIX no matter what, but I'm not allowed to push something else?
Anyhow, OP solved their problem, it's totally OK to continue this here.
It seems you're having a hard time accepting that the DDX driver is still a viable option, even preferable in some cases.
I think you're reluctant to answer my above questions because they would force you to re-evaluate that stance.
it's produced by developers paid by Intel to do so
it reacts to video= cmdline options identically to other FOSS display drivers
all who use it, regardless whether AMD, Intel or NVidia, can expect the same display device names for the same outputs
etc

What exactly gives you such an impression? What is it about "try both if you wish to know which suits best your environment" (or equivalent) that you don't understand?
Try both sums up my response. Thus ondoho, next time you direct a response about this subject specifically to me (by name, or by quoting), expect no answer from me, unless possibly in a new thread you start, appropriately titled.

A little sad that you could not find it in you to answer these questions; after all I'm trying not to "push" one thing over another (as I badly phrased it before), I'm only trying to figure out why exactly your general experience is so different from mine (and OP's).
