Unhappy scanner software

Hi

Using some of the advice from these forums I have managed to get xsane and Kooka to see my scanner and install on Mepis 6.0. However there now appears to be another problem as when I try to scan anything which ever programme I use both tell me they are busy and unable to scan! Does xsane and kooka have a log file I can look at to try to find out what is going on? I can't seem to find one. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Incidentally the scanner works fine on Win98.

You might try /var/log/messages or/and try running both programs from a terminal to see error messages etc.
