Running Cinnamon 1.4 in Ubuntu 12.04 issue

I am running the latest beta release of 12.04. I just installed Cinnamon 1.4 according to these instructions for 12.04:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cinnamon

After a restart, Ubuntu hangs when trying to display the desktop. What should I do? How can I get back to my regular Gnome desktop? When I start up my machine, I am not prompted for a password when booting into 12.04. Options?

When I restart, I never get the option of seeing the login screen so I can't change back to the standard Ubuntu login. May there be a way to invoke the login screen during the startup process, or maybe some other way for me to get back to my normal 12.04 desktop?

Do you get a root or user prompt? If you do have you tried reconfiguring GDM?

I was able to get back in by restarting in recovery mode. Looks like Cinnamon 1.4 does not work at all in Ubuntu 12.04. Has anyone had any luck getting it to work?

Ubuntu 12.04 is still in beta and Cinnamon isn't really much better and it's also from a different distro/dev group. I'd be looking for tutorials and there are a few online in places like webupd8 and seeing what they say but I wouldn't be expecting many people to have anything up on Cinnamon with 12.04 until 12.04 is actually released.

The devs are aware of a conflict with Cinnamon and the latest updates to Precise. Cinnamon for Precise has been removed from the PPA. They have cobbled together a patch and are testing now, according to something I read elsewhere. For now, you should remove Cinnamon from your system and be patient. I too, am waiting. Cinnamon looks like what I have been waiting for.

Update: the ppa has been updated for Precise.

I reinstalled the Cinnamon desktop to Ubuntu 12.04. It's still not perfect, but is working much better than the last experiment that I had with it.
