open office


I am using open office and I am trying to modify a document that was sent to me in microsoft word format and I am getting the message "cannot do modifications to read only content" I was able to do other modifications to this document. I would appreciate the help.

Simply save the document with a different name.....then YOU are in control

I have tried renaming it and I am still having the same problem, I am using open office writer, if that make s any difference.

Did you rename the existing file (eg in the file manager) or did you use "save as"--with a new name in OOo writer? The latter **should* give you control. (Maybe you still have to go into properties or something to get full access.)

What are the permissions and ownership (displayed by ls -l [filename]
