Latency, sound lags event by one second in KDE?


The sounds of breaking glass and so on associated with dialog boxes appearing and so on in KDE occur about 1 second after the event, say the box appearing. I am not exagerating!!!!???!!?!!!!!!??????????!!

This can't be right can it???????????????

How I do something about it?????????!!!!!!!!!?????????????!!!!
