1) I cannot login to KDE4 on my F9 desktop. I select my user, password, "KDE" and then try to login. It starts the loading process (pops up the splash screen), then goes back to the login screen. No error message. I have tried to do a reload, upgrade KDE, nothing seems to work. I am thinking about reloaded with F10 comes out.
2) I had seen online that some people have loaded the Windows version of Firefox with WINE in order to get access to Shockwave and Flash content. I downloaded the binary and tried to click on it. WINE opens and I get the error "Can not create temp folder archive". I opened the WINE Configuration tool and tried to add an application, but it doesn't list any drives or paths so I can't browse to the file and run it.

Log in as root, or as a failsafe session. Go to your home directory, and delete the $HOME/.kde (or $HOME/.kde4) directories. Log back in.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
Uhh...why? Shockwave and Flash are supported nicely...no problems with the Linux version of Firefox....download and follow the instructions for loading, but you have to do it manually....

Nope, didn't work. There was only a .kde directory and removing it still did not allow me to log in. I have KDE4 installed so there should have been at least that directory, but there wasn't. I don't know if that means there is a version conflict or something.

I went to the Adobe web site and there is no Shockwave player for Linux. I believe I do have Flash installed. There are somethings, eg. YouTube, that require both and will say that you have to install Flash, but my system says that I have the most current version already installed. So that means that I need Shockwave. I signed a petition one time requesting Macromedia (before they were bought out by Adobe) develop Shockwave for Linux (or release the source), but never heard anything about it. So basically, I heard there was a workaround by installing the Windows version of Firefox through WINE you could get access to the Shockwave player and content.
Is it possible that this could be a result of not enough Video memory? I just upgraded (well, clean install) to F10 to see if it would work. Still nothing. Still starts to load then just goes back to the login screen. Right now I am running it on a machine that has a 64 MB onboard video. I did have a 128 MB daughter card in, but had to put that in another computer. I have not had KDE 4 work at all on this system since I built it.
Also, now I'm having another problem. No cursor. There is still a mouse, but the cursor is invisible. Since somethings highlight when you mouseover them I'm able to do somethings. I tried rebooting, pulling the mouse plug (USB), and using a different port, nothing. When I was doing the install for F10, the mouse wasn't working either. I'm gonna try a different mouse and see if that works. Maybe it's a way that Linux has to get back at MS! Thanks again.
