Gramps Genealogy software

I am new to using Gramps 2.2.6-1 (Genealogy software). I have done bit of work on my family tree and another relative has done a lot of work on another branch and I would like to merge the two. Anyone know how this is done? I can export them to the standard GEDCOM file, can I then merge them? I know that there will be quite a bit of overlap among individuals and I would assume that there will be a way of dealing with that. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
Todd
