different types of GillSansMTPro

Hello All,

I support some people on Centos7 laptops. ( or I try)

The problem I'm facing today is that some folks need these font types:

GillSansMTPro-Condensed.otf
GillSansMTPro-BoldCondensed.otf

I put these in /home/user/.fonts like I did earlier with GillSansMTPro-Medium.otf.
All that shows up in Libreoffice is GillSansMTPro. My guess is Linux/Libreoffice sees all these mtopro's as one type.

Can anyone offer some advise on this.

Many thanks.
J.

I have the same problem in OpenOffice with DejaVU Condensed, so I think this may be an old bug. I've even seen it mentioned in conjunction with other software, like InDesign.

If you click on Format - Character - Font, you may be able to select "condensed" as you would "bold", although that doesn't work for me. The only other solutions are
1. Use something else. Sans fonts are much of a muchness, and often difficult to distinguish. Some are wide like URW Gothic, some narrow like Ariel. Admittedly, your font is very narrow.
2. Load the font into FontForge and rename it to something different.

Hello David,

thanks for helping me out.

Fontforge - I never heard about it - works for one of the required fonts, that is already great!
We now have a GillSansMTPro-Condensed, it doesn't seem to work for the Boldcondensed.

So thansk again.

greetings, J.
