It depends on how do you want to open it (from command line or there is another app, from gui, from menu, whatever). Usually there are common options for all the graphical apps: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ns-4175417968/ (I would try -geometry)
Hi ,
Totem has no -geometry option , I managed to force mplayer to open in the middle of the screen by adding
geometry = 50:50% to the ~/.mplayer/conf configuration file .
I most of the time open it from the command line .
in any case, this depends on how the app and the window manager work together; in other words, you can either tell the app to put the window smack in the middle, or the window manager.
in either case, hopefully the other party respects the settings (e.g., the window manager might decide to override the app's placement request).
i know on openbox this kind of thing is possible.
i don't even know which window manager gnome uses, or if it has a gui for setting up application rules...
