compiz(-fusion) by itself?

Hello,

After some though, I've decided to remove my desktop environment, and add compiz as a stand alone window manager. I'm thinking about adding XFCE panel for easy clicks.

However, whenever I have installed a distribution before, I have always installed a desktop environment with a window manager, but not the window manager itself.

Can anybody here help me from making huge mistakes with compiz-fusion? It's the window manager I plan on using. Does the "Wallpaper" option add a wallpaper? When I used that option with a DE, the wallpaper was the one the DE had used.

Thank you in advance!
