changing a kubuntu to ubuntu for xgl

Hi
does anybody have a solution for passing from kubuntu to ubuntu, i ve tried apt-get install ubuntu-desktop, but this doesnī t work, could it be due to the fact that i m on the latest edgy release, and does anybody know wich desktop xgl runs the best on?
it works to some extent on my kubuntu edgy eft, but non of the water fx work, qnd i donīt have any of the outer window bars, so canīt reduce window, or close it.
Thanks
Lauriexgl

ps, when i run the commande apt-get install ubuntu-desktop, it did download everything, but could not see it on the start up panel where you sign in.

If you did the install of gnome, then it's there - it should be on the "menu" drop down at the login dialogue stage.

Xgl/compiz worked fine under kde when I tried it.
