Can I run 'xset led 3' with slim login manager BEFORE logging in?

I guess the title sums up my problem. My keyboard has backlight leds and I need to enable them before logging in, if possible. I did try this,

Code:
sessionstart_cmd /usr/bin/xset led 3
in slim.conf, but it only enables the lights after logging in.

Thanks

Hello. The problem I have is that I often have to look at the keys when typing my login password, but the keys on this keyboard have very dark labels. The only way to see them is with the LEDs on.

If there is any way to enable the keyboard LEDs during boot before the login manager starts then I would like to know about it.

Does the distribution support and have an /etc/rc.local file?
If it does, you could stick
Code:
/usr/bin/xset led 3
in it on a line by itself. Runs once per boot and after other system services,
but before you login.

Please let us know...

if i try xset on a tty, i get an "unable to open display" error.
i'm pretty sure xset requires the X server to be running.
afaiu, slim actually starts the xserver, so maybe it won't work (and not in rc.local, either).

what you want certainly is possible, but maybe not with xset!
