Cnr

So it is as good as it seems? I've been dipping in and out of Linux over the years, but I've always found installing software a downright unfriendly and irritating process. This is unfortunate, as otherwise I have loved Linux, but I haven't had the time to really get used to any particular distrobution and I inevitably end up falling into the comfort zone of Windows.

CNR looks fantastic as a solution to my laziness , but it is really that good? Also, will be avaliable on other Linux distros?

CNR is only available for Linspire and maybe Freespire. And yes, as long as you don't mind spending a little money for your programs, it probably would be a cure for your laziness.

Wink Cnr

CNR will soon be able to be used on almost all major distros starting with Ubuntu in April or May this year.

Go to cnr.com for details.

In Fedora (and other Distros) you can install a program/package by doing:

yum install <packagename>

So if you want to install mplayer you'd do a:

yum install mplayer

It's that easy! Yum will resolve any dependencies for you! But I heard some good things for CNR....

The thing I hate

The thing I hate about doing it from Yum and Apt is sometimes you don't know the name (The way the person who puts it in yum writes it)

Also I love the fact that CNR can keep a history of all your installs. You can even make lists and share them with others (Like if you have the perfect list of applications for a particular set up)

Plus applications can be rated, they are broken down by paid or free etc.

The add and remove program in Ubuntu is pretty good. So is synaptic.
