It doesn't download a playlist. So the recording industry of America has decided we in Europe are not allowed to download a series of programming tutorials from youtube any more?

Excuse my ignorance, but HOW this DMCA takedown is relevant for Slackware?

Because we use it on Slackware and will eventually have to find an alternative.

With all respect, there are many pirating tools which can be used with Slackware as host operating system, like any other Linux.

I.e. I heard that Popcorn Time (you known, that Netflix For Pirates over illegal torrents) works absolutely fine under Linux, then probably also under Slackware. So?

BUT, I do not think that a pirating tool (with the sole purpose to illegally download videos from a proprietary platform Youtube) is right to be discussed on the official Slackware forum.

The Youtube have a Premium plan, which offers you also the ability to download your favorite videos, then using any other methods for downloading videos from the video streaming platform Youtube is pirating.

BTW, I feel that's ironic that a Russian must give lessons about what's proprietary and piracy, and what's not, to a bunch of Americans...

You aren't you the guys who laugh that the word "copyright" does not exists on Russian language?

Apparently, also in Americanish it does not exists. And neither in Europeanish...

Who said about downloading anything illegal. You people are so quick to pass judgement, I really hope your hands are clean before pointing fingers. Not everything on YouTube is copyright. I download tutorials all the time to figure out how to fixed things around my house especially when things are buffering.

Yes, but its "method and apparatus" to stream videos certainly it is.

Probably there are tons of patents and copyrights behind that Youtube, which you try to avoid using a tool made with the sole purpose to hack the Youtube platform.

BTW, does Youtube offer a public method to download its videos for free?

Please, show me this information on any Google, err... Alphabet site.

Yes not everything in YouTube is copyrighted, further youtube-dl can download files from a lot of other servers, not only youtube. Calling youtube-dl a pirating tool is just ridiculous. Then all weapons sellers are criminals. I could agree, but probably the NRA would not

Anyway youtube-dl it is still available for download from https://yt-dl.org/ which have been updated accordingly, only the git repository is not accessible at the moment, so much ado about nothing as could have said William S.
