For like since forever I've had this lovely little utility called Windows Coffee Holder and all I have to do is press a button next to the coffee holder and whoppie, out comes a tray for me to place my coffee on. The trouble is, every time I reboot the computer the tray goes back into the computer and knocks my hot cup of coffee all over damn keyboard and everything else!

I was told by people that said they were from Microsoft Linux that this wouldn't be a problem! That all the problems they had under Microsoft Windows would go away with Microsoft Linux!!!

I'm sick of it! I just can't take it anymore!

Is there a patch or something that I can download to prevent this from happening again!

You have the notorious WinCupHolder(TM). While there are some efforts to reverse engineer this device at the LinCupHolder project, this is hampered by the manufacturer's unwillingness to provide HW specs.

As a workaround, with the cupholder extended, drill a hole close to the computer, through the holder, to one side of the large central hole. Insert a small screwdriver through the hole. Now the holder will no longer retract.

An even simler way to get the WinCupHolder to function correctly under Linux is to unplug the power cord when the tray is open. No you can enjoy putting your cup in that little hole while starring at a blank screen.

While I am in no way, shape or form anywhere near approaching geekgal status, I'm with the serious Linux geekguys/gals who wouldn't even consider seeking a solution provided by anything with M$ in its name and would never consider installing MicrosoftLinux in the first place, no matter how promising the hype. However, Linux geekguys/gals are serious about their coffee and I have heard that some have come up with an ingenious workaround: An intravenous line connected directly from industrial-sized coffee urns to their arms which, apparently, works wondrously well when installed properly. No blank screens for them! Life's a Linux beach!

Disclaimer: I cannot vouch for the safety or efficacy of this workaround, although it does promise a steady caffeine supply. Use at your own risk/peril/etc.

Nowthen, ignore all previous advice and listen to me. I am a REAL LINUX GURU (I must be, I use Slackware). Forget the screwdriver, that's not recommended any more (see CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT). Two small drops of superglue, one each side of the troublesome cupholder will prevent retraction (it looks neater too).

I've got two - one under the other. Is the lower one for taller cups or a saucer? pllllllllllllleeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll install the updates immediately... that is, as soon as they figure out how to get windowsupdate.microsoft.com to work with FireFox!

Oh maybe I'll get a computer with not one but TWO window's cup holders!
