I would love it if Linux distributers did advertise. I hate having people complaining, "I HATE MY COMPUTER, I'M GOING TO SHOOT IT!!!" I hear this so often. "My computer is being gay!!!" Yes, these people are newbies, but still, they would have so many less problems on a great distro of Linux, kind of like Ubuntu, where you don't have to really know what you are doing to get it to work. I wouldn't need to "fix" so many friends' computers. By "fix" I usually mean rid of spyware, viruses, etc. Windows is so exploitable. The only thing that might be bad is if everyone used Linux, the people who exploit Windows might try a lot harder to exploit Linux.

people who know computers know the *nix world. yes, advertising might help, but i view that sort of as selling out. linux and unix have good reputations and those who want an alternative OS already know where to look.
I would have to say thats its mainly down to costs? The Distros dont really rake in the cash, exept well maby the corperate versions ave enough, but now that IBM is on the band wagon i think that they will have a major part to play in the increase and knowledge of linux.

but they are wearing black&white dockers ... well ... kind of pockets-less type(though not completely) and thats really good and noble ... isnt it ?? ^_^
