Talking weird but usefull commands?

Hello Everybody,

I'm curious to see what can be done with the command line... I used the following command past few days to follow some progress on a job:

watch -n1 'echo $(ls -1 | grep -c "") orders read; echo; echo "orders missing:"; for i in $(seq 4001 4306);do [ ! -d "$i" ] && echo $i; done'

I had to convert all orders for a customer one by one to a new system... the new system creates a new directory for each order, wich are counted so I knew how many I had done, and it listed the order numbers between 4001 and 4306 wich were not done yet... using the watch command, the status was updated every second, very handy.
Are there people around here who use "weird" commands to accomplish certain things? Maybe we can learn from eachother some usefull things (or less usefull but more funny )

greetz,

I sometimes use this command when I'm lazy:

Code:
makecoffee
My Mandrake 10.0 box sprouts legs, pops out of the room for a minute or two and mysteriously returns with a mug of fine Colombian coffee.

Man, I love Linux like that!

Tim
