I've got a hardware support wiki in development and it's near release. I'm desperately in need of some guys to
write up some setup guides for me. The site isn't about what 'just works', It's about what does work with some
pain involved. It's not someones opinion or added crapola, It's just the facts to make it work.
It's not just about *BSD either, it's about Linux or any other unix like OS, there's more to life than *BSD.
If it has to be done with NDIS for example, It will tell you exactly what Windows driver version was used along
with other gory details. There are pleanty of mailing lists and forums about, but you can spend literally hours
looking through useless threads, while some people may have the time to do this, others may not and need the solution
quickly. When you do actually find a solution, it can still take hours to figure out exactly how to port it over
to your particular system, i.e. a Linux solution to a *BSD system. The service will be free to use and people will
be able to submit their own articles. I'm just in need of some people to help get it off the ground by writing up
some 'starter-guides'.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Are you:

* looking for people to help you write documentation?
* looking for existing technical manuals to use as a guide for writing your own?
* just trying to collect autographs from technical writers?
* trying to do something entirely different?

In any case, please provide more detail. As it stands, the topic doesn't seem to be Linux-related....

IMNSHO I'd rather like to see people write guides for LQ. LQ, with it's large and helpful community, definately offers a qualitatively better chance for people to (more or less) effectively find the information you're looking for.

Besides that you have been x-posting again, which is against the LQ Rules. Cross-posting is considered bad netiquette on your part, a waste of resources on LQ's part and a waste of time for LQ members who take the time to read and answer your question.

It's not JUST Linux related, it's for any OS that people submit stuff for.

It's just to save time for other users really, it's free to use and there's no money involved. I'm not making anything from it, I just hate spending hours looking for help with my hardware and still having no luck. Still can't get my wireless network card working on FreeBSD using NDIS, been trying to do that for a while. Would be nice to have a place to get it in a few clicks, not just for Linux or *BSD, but for every OS. It's just going to be like a Wikipedia for hardware. Would be nice if somebody spend days trying to get something right, and they thought, "right, i've worked hard on this, i'd like to place it somewhere to save other people time and get recognition for my hard work."
Sure, there are other sites, and other wiki's, but it's all scattered everywhere, it would just be nice to have it all in the one place. I'm not trying to take away your traffic or anything like that, hell, i'll even put a banner up and direct people to you. I just need a few things to help it off the ground and get it flying. By the end of all this, I hope to have the ultimate hardware encyclopedia for everybody to use free of charge.
