The intro forum is a sub-forum of General, does the no-post-count rule apply there, too?

If Intro forum didn't increment the post count, do you really think that any one would be spending their time in welcoming the never responding newbies there ??

No matter what, the incrementing of one's post count, should not be the reason for posting anywhere on LQ. Loads of people on LQ reply because they wish to aid not have a running score. I for one don't care.

If what I post benefits the person and the community then that is a reward in itself.

I seldom post in the Intro forum because I don't want my post count to increase. I feel embarrassed on having a "Senior member" title because I am not technically that sound !

But no one can deny this fact that there are people who post in the Intro forum to increase their post count !

Sure, you will always have people of that type. Look beyond that, their true colors will eventually show.

That label is just a means to show your stature. If you present solid information along with the tone of wanting to assist then proceed. We all have our own level of knowledge or lack of. There's no way one person can know everything.

I like this:

"Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it."- Samuel Johnson

Testing from some mini distribution called "Winki" that my MSI mobo driver disk installed/activated when I had to install Windows yesterday. I had no idea what it was I just saw the syslinux bootloader instead of windows, so my machine is an automatic dual boot this way. Kinda cool.

Hi,

Look at 'MSI Winki eyes-on: it's an instant-on OS, but for desktops';
Quote:
MSI did a laudatory job this morning baffling us with its Winki release, but we managed to find an exceptionally kind, English-speaking representative at its CeBIT booth today who broke it down for us. In short, Winki is MSI's new instant-on operating system. It's Linux-based, and looks a heck of a lot more elaborate than the HyperSpace instant-on OS that we toyed with in January. The kicker is that at least for now, this thing is only for desktops, as it's actually built into a small module (shown above) that plugs directly into an MSI motherboard. At first, only select mainboards will come bundled with Winki, but it just might roll out across MSI's entire mobo line. The dame we spoke with wouldn't divulge any details on whether this OS would ever come to its wide-ranging laptop line, but we suspect it will in due time. Winki provides easy access to IM services, Skype and the internet, which is a shortcut to Doom away from being all the true gamer needs in life, anyway.
Been around for awhile. Still not much happening here.

Yeah I read that. It's a neat little thing. It's rather slow unfortunately, but neat nonetheless. If I was a person that used skype and IM it would be quite handy. I just never even knew it was there because I'd never used their disk for drivers since I've never installed windows on that machine, and with Slackware everything "just works"

I guess though that it speaks well for MSI's linux hardware compatibility when they include a little linux distro on a chip!

Hi,

I believe we will see more of this happening everywhere. Linux is on a lot of things and people don't even know it. Just works!
