need help making computer child proof until i can install ubuntu

ok i have a really big problem that continues to annoy the crap out of me,i have 3 computers at home with 2 running ubuntu, the third still has windows because i havent had alot of time to install linux yet because i work alot, my children have been downloading limewire while im out of town and uninstalling it before i get home,i can always tell its there because it saves files under the shared folder, ive tried web filters but they dont seem to work because the kids can easily uninstall it even if its password protected from the add/remove programs section, my question is how can i block them from accessing the start menu all together ,,,thnx

run gpedit and secpol.msc from start run. There you can set policies under admin templates.

As previously mentioned, and/or force them to use a 'Guest' account which has limited privileges.

well i am not running windows xp i ma using fedora core 7 but i think you can do this is that you take away previldges from the account your child is using like try to block site an make a new account that is for gest so they can not do as many things. Or the best thing you can do on an computer or on an os is when you first turn on your computer go to the boot menu or the seeting place for you computer an go there an set a screen password that will be hard for you childreen to gess or find out so if you set this password. before the welcome screen comes in your computer there will be a black screen right after you turn on your computer that says enter password an you enter you password from there an then they can acsses acount so if you make that password an it is hard they wont get acsses to go in your computer downloading thing. An the computer you have right now that is not running linux on it chenge it to linux so that you can take the previldges of fast.

Change your firewall to not allow Limewire internet access and give them a guest account so they cant change it

Here's an idea. Install it properly for them and let them share files and information like it was meant to be. (Sharing.. remember that thing we were all taught was important when we were in the 2nd grade.)

I recommend eMule, but if you gotta go with the gnutella network, definitely use Frostwire (open source Limewire Pro).

If you're really adamant about them not sharing files while your gone, I suggest taking the power cord with you.

Not a Linux-question, gone to greener pastures, i.e. it
belongs in General which is where I moved it to.

Cheers,

Letting them just share, good decision. Help make the world a better place.
