making use of the computer...

i find that i tend to do nothing than playing with the games that comes with KDE or GNOME but do nothing which people call useful with the computer... ie get on with ma projects.... use OOO ... .... some thing minor distracting me... like finding wow... it would be interesting to see what that thing does and then go playing around... going off course...

anybody got any ideas how that i could get out of this vicious circle of doing nothing usefull?

thanks in advance...

Post Well, may I suggest...

  • Like music? Rip all your CDs and make a massive mp3 collection, creating playlists and burning your own custom mixes.
  • Lots of photos? Learn some quick HTML and make picture galleries to share with friends.
  • A little writer in you? Craft some good FAQs or How-To's for any problems you've come across, but where successful in solving yourself.
  • Want to make it yours? Head on over to www.programmingtutorials.com and start reading some programming tutorials. If you've got Linux, you've got all the compilers you'll ever need.
  • An artist? Use programs like the GIMP to create cool wallpapers and logos to share with friends.
  • Free time? If you've got free time, and know your way around a bit, you could download BETA versions of programs and help others test out their work.
  • Love tweeking? Look for updates to any programs you use a lot. Find a cool new web-browser to use. Learn to setup local sendmail services to have your very own custom email headers.
The list marches on an on. Hope my suggestions helped!
