I'd like to setup a security camera system for my home. At least one of the cameras would be fairly far away at the end of the drive way and so I'm leaning towards a PoE/IP camera system.
I'm not really into the idea of buying a whole system that has a network video recorder, cloud app access and a cheap remote etc. I'd much rather just purchase a decent camera that can do the following:
* Send recorded video/photos to a network share (fps, sftp, samba)
* Record videos/photos when motion is detected
* Night vision, doesn't have to be great, just enough so I can tell if it's a burglar or a deer in my back yard
* Outdoor weather rated
* And lastly, I'd love to be able to write my own webpage that allows me to embed the video signals from the cameras. This way I could basically write my own app that I could access while on my phone using nothing but a web browser and https. I'm finding immense difficulty in figuring out what cameras can support this
* Email alerts would be cool to, but I can write some scripts that will just check the network share for new files and notify me that way.
Basically I want a camera without the bells and whistles so that hopefully I can save a few bucks and be sure that I'm the only one looking at the footage.
Is there anyone here that can help me locate what products to buy? It's been really frustrating trying to research this. I've emailed 5 or so different brands and asked them these very specific questions and I never get direct answers.
No, but Super Circuits was suggested to me many years ago when I worked in the security industry as a good source for DIY. Were it I, when I narrow down my choices, I do a websearch on the makes/models. That should give you enough to go on.
