And I thought weather was the result of solar radiation and the resulting interaction between the atmosphere and ocean. (Or directed by the goddess Mother Nature.) Silly me.
Second Son worked on the Pride of Baltimore II, another "tall ship"; it's considered one of the elite among the tall ships crowd. I got the privileged tour.
There is quite a camaraderie amongst sailors on tall ships. We visited the USCG Eagle and, when it was revealed that I was in the company of a member of the crew of the Pride, we got the special tour of the Eagle. It did indeed feel quite special.
