yes it does. 1000 is ok i think for a normal member here, but some people who post here for the sake of it without any great knowledge get a awful lot of posts very quickly, without learning much at all.
Yes, of course Guru sounds better it has two u's in the name .
And must agree with acid there are some members that are in a race track here, they think it is a competition without being competent, and it's really annoying to see ppl ask: "How long does the stupid newbie status here last? 20 posts, 30 posts?" I learned a lot about linux before I came here, and I've learned even more when I became a member.
Another thought

Is there anyway to become a guru with posts less than 1k or say <500 in LQ here?
Even if Linus decides to join LQ he'd be in a newbie status here
Or he's here already? Jeremy, help, emergency !!! <sirens heard in the background> Does Linus aware of what he's done to us?

Won't work, he's got an 802.11b compatible kneecap running airsnort... he gets within 100 yards of a wireless LAN and he's back online.

do you ?
Nope.
Though I am about to be upgraded with a satellite link directly to LQ instead of this outdated wireless nic in my kneecap. Why do you think we need more contributing members, satellites aren't cheap these days you know..

Forgot to tell you old buddy, the deal with the Russian telecom fell through, but I've got this friend over at EchoStar and he thinks we can get root on one of their birds, but its running OpenBSD so well have to do it from console. Again, I couldn't get us a ride to the IIS, man I wish Mir were still up, a lift there was cheaper than a run down to the store, and none of these NASA twerps asking me why I wanted to make a 13000 mile out-of-the-way pit stop. I miss the good old days when capitalism was new to the Russians, and they would do anything for a couple Elvis CDs and some Levis. Anyway, we toyed briefly with the idea of brainwashing that N'sync kid to do the job, but Taz pointed out the two problems: A) That there would have to be something to wash, and B) that we would have to over-ride all of the cortical scrubbing that the RIAA and Pepsi had already done. A core dump in orbit would have been ugly.
Back to the drawing board, so Isa suggested a Chimp would be brighter anyway, but Kewp's design plans for the rocket didn't call for any oxygen supply and after extensive testing we couldn't get the Chimp to hold his breathe for more than a minute 40. What a slacker.
So that left one option, DavePhillips's experimental RootBot, running Davix, his LFS distro. You know when the ship doesn't run on Windows NT you save 40% on lift weight and it can take off after winds exceed 12 mph? Anyway, we solved an internal heating problem by switching the board from running Intel to running 4 Alphas. I might be able to con some of the jokers down at Goddard flight center by telling them that when we're done we can hook them up with free Dish Network pay-per-view.
Well I've been talking lately with the guys down in Houston, might have struck a deal, I give them couple months free of RoadRunner for a great deal on a satellite. Though they seemed hesitant at first but when I threw in the Playboy channel for free, they really got interested in striking a deal. ( Guess those NASA nerds don't get out much ).
I'm heading down there tomorrow to see what I can come up with... But first, I think I'll visit my mother and go fishing on the coast like I planned originally......
