Managing user permissions
Hi all,
I have encountered a problem with user management that I can't find a solution to...
When a user requests access to a specific folder:
(I have a group called webteam which has access to all folders and is registered with SAMBA.)
1) I create a new group, add the user to that group and change the group of that folder(chgrp) to the new group.
2) I then add users from the webteam that need access to that folder to the newly created group.
3) I also add the new user to the webteam group so that I don't have to make changes to the SAMBA conf file
and restart SAMBA.
there are many flaws with this system:
a) adding users to the webteam group will give them access to folders that they shouldn't
have access to. but the only other option I know to solve this is to change the samba conf and restart samba
which I don't want to do....
b) its tedious to manually add users from the webteam group into the newly created group....
If anyone could suggest a solution to this problem that would be awesome...
thanks in advance,
J.C
