I don't know how the law stands in Australia, but in the YK if you return the bundled software and wipe the HD you can claim the money back. Again in the UK, Dell offer OS-less laptops and pcs, you could try the Australian Dell site.

Dell does I believe, I had a really good place I was looking at when I was chasing a laptop but I've lost the link. Very decent machines and you could get them without Windows, not sure where it was based but they shipped anywhere, I'll try and find that link again and let you know

Unfortunately, Dell's naked computers cost more than the ones with Windows. Not only do you pay the Windows tax (plus a bit more), but you also won't get a free monitor, flat-panel upgrade, or any other purchase incentive the OS-encumbered version comes with standard.

Shame on them!
