How to add another drive volume to Windows?

Hi,

First - this is related to linux. Let me describe my situation:

I installed linux, but when I resized my windows XP NTFS, I gave linux way too much space. Much more than it needed.

After accidentally screwing up my partitions, I took it as an opportunity to enlarge ntfs and to reinstall a clean linux. But diskdrake tells me that enlarging ntfs will delete all information on it, so my solution was to format another NTFS or FAT partition, and add it to windows XP as another drive letter where I could store things like music files.

Problem: Windows doesn't automatically recognize the partition, and I don't know how to tell it to.

Can you guys help me?

-Thanks in advance

Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Storage / Disk Management... Somewhere in there.

PS -- You don't need to bump... Most people who've been here awhile check the new messages since they last visited. When you bump, it shows you have reply, and people might pass it by thinking you are already getting help.

In the future, wait 24 hours to bump your threads as our rules indicate. This is a busy forum with usually 1,000 members browsing daily, it might get pushed down quickly but that doesn't mean it might not get answered.

Review our rules here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/rules.php

Regards.
