Forming a new LUG... what to do!?

While participating in a new course offered this year in linux, and seeing that there are a few here who use linux and alot of people who are interested in linux, I'm considering starting a LUG at my University. First let me state this is a modest sized university (about 2,000 students) and lacks those big LAN party-esque things at larger colleges.

Also, I have never first hand seen a LUG or have any real idea what they do!! So help me out guys... what should I do to get my LUG off the ground? I have the resources of the school paper, so getting information out shouldn't be a major problem... now I just need to figure out what we should do for a first meeting? what do you do at your local LUG meetings?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
