Do you remember a post 'the worst thing about Microsoft' ?
Hello Slackware fans. Does anyone remember a post titled 'the worst thing about Microsoft'? I honestly believe that I saw it in this forum as a tagline. The post was created under Creative Commons copyright rules. It was hosted on a site in Japan. The thrust of the message ... the worst thing about Microsoft is the kind of users it creates. The author describes folks that turn off their anti-virus software just for a minute so this unknown program may be installed, etc. He was hopeful though that younger MS users would be more savvy. What I want to do is attribute the work to the rightful author. Thanks.
Why is this within the slackware distro forums? Needs to definitely be moved....
The only reason I asked in this forum is that I saw it as a linked tagline in this forum. Am not interested in starting an anti-Microsoft rant. All I want to know is do you remember the piece in this forum? Yes or No. I just want to find the author's name for attribution.
I am certainly guided by your posting rules. Not interested in starting an off-topic thread. The article was shown as a linked tagline years ago when Shilo Baca was moderator. I messed up-got the text and didn't capture the author's name.
Here are the first couple of sentences. Have tried everything I could think of to find the author's name.
Quote:
In the following article, I refer to the GNU/Linux OS and various FOSS projects under the catch-all name of "Linux". It just scans better. . .
What's wrong with Microsoft?
Before I do anything else, let me assure you, this is not an anti-MS rant bashing their monopoly abuses, software patents, anti-competitive behaviour, or anything else.
No, the biggest problem with MS is far worse. It's the users they create.
Notice the spelling of behaviour. Makes me think he is from UK or Canada.
There was a poster in the Slackware forum who had a website called "Shiloh is a geek." Is that who you're thinking of?
OK. Time to end an off-topic thread. Consensus is that folks don't remember the particular article. Thought somebody might have. I will say if one Googles 'worst thing about Microsoft' or some such one gets too many hits. I've also searched Creative Commons but no joy there. Thanks to all.http://static.linuxquestions.org/que...s_lq/icon7.gif
IMO, it is safe to assume that website owner is the author of original post.
According to the article, to attribute it, all you need is to include URL of the original.
