I left the sticker on my laptop, because I like the way it now claims to be "designed for Windows XP" and "powered by Debian," but my default position is to remove such stickers along with the software they advertise.
I wish I could find the post I read years ago (likely on another site) by someone who'd peeled off a Windows sticker from a computer and stuck it to hir toilet - if I remember right, the toilet broke a fortnight later.
Every time I've bought a Windows machine, I always bought a retail copy of Windows at the same time. Removed the sticker from the machine, then wiped the disk drive clean and reinstalled from the retail copy. I never trust, and never use, an "OEM" license.
